Student Empowerment Program (SEP)

Raising World Changers

The Student Empowerment Program (SEP) is more than a scholarship; it is a holistic initiative designed to empower the next generation of Madagascar. Born out of a decade of field ministry, SEP bridges the gap between potential and opportunity for children across both rural and urban communities, ensuring that poverty is never a boundary to success. We believe that when given the right tools and opportunities to excel, a student's economic background should never limit their God-given purpose.

“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” — 3 John 1:4

The Journey of Restoration

Seeds Sown in the Kids Club (2009–2018)

Our journey began in 2009 with the launch of our Kids Club programs. These clubs were designed as high-energy, holistic platforms for spiritual growth and character development. Through soccer, dance, and language skills, we discipled thousands of children, building deep relationships with them and their parents.

However, as these children grew, we observed a heartbreaking trend. Despite our best efforts in mentorship, nearly 80% of our students never made it to secondary school. We realized that spiritual discipleship without educational intervention left our youth trapped in the same cycles of poverty.

Standing in the gap

The Silent Barrier of Identity

As we expanded into more remote communities in 2019, we uncovered a systemic wall that poverty alone didn't explain. We discovered that most children in rural villages do not have birth certificates.

In Madagascar, a birth certificate is a mandatory legal document required to sit for national exams at the end of 5th grade. Without it, a child’s education effectively ends at age 10. For families in secluded areas, obtaining this document is a monumental task:

  • - The Distance: Villages are hours or days away from government offices by foot.

  • - The Uncertainty: There is no system for appointments or phone calls. One must walk the distance and simply hope the officer is present—which they often aren't.

  • - The Corruption: Navigating "secluded" administrative offices often requires multiple, costly trips to overcome bureaucratic corruption and neglect.

Overcoming the Impossible

The World Changers Scholarship was launched to tear down these walls. We have moved from being just a club to being legal advocates and educational partners.

  • Legal Identity Advocacy: Our team performs the "hard task" of securing paperwork. We serve as a strategic mediator between the local government and parents to facilitate the legal process, tackling these documentation hurdles by groups rather than on a one-by-one basis. We endure the long walks and repeated trips to government offices to ensure every child has a birth certificate, unlocking their right to transition to secondary school and beyond.

  • - Parental Partnership: We don't replace the family; we empower it. We stand in the gap by partnering with parents to cover tuition, materials, transportation, and daily meals, allowing them to prioritize their child's future over immediate survival needs. Furthermore, we actively assist parents in finding ways to improve or secure a steady income, ensuring the family unit grows in stability alongside the student.

  • - Holistic Excellence: Our students remain active in the "engine room" of worship and discipleship, participating in extracurricular activities, summer camps, and mission trips that help them discover their God-given identity.

2026 Vision

Professional Resonance

As we look toward 2026, the Student Empowerment Program is evolving to ensure that education leads directly to marketplace impact.

  1. - Teacher Training & Tutoring Assistance: Investing in the quality of education by providing specialized training for local educators and intensive tutoring support for students to ensure they master core subjects and excel academically.

  2. - Parental Empowerment Circles: Intensive workshops and community gatherings designed to support parents through a holistic lens—addressing home stability, economic coaching, and spiritual mentorship to ensure the scholarship's impact is sustained by a healthy home environment.

  3. - The SkillBridge Pipeline: Every SEP graduate will have a direct path into our SkillBridge initiative, transitioning them from the classroom into micro-apprenticeships and professional placement.
