Our Story:
A Vision of Hope for Madagascar
The story of Echoes of Madagascar is a testament to what happens when faith meets action. In 2009, founders Lance and Sandratra set out on a journey that would change their lives—and the lives of thousands across the Red Island—forever. Driven by a deep love for the Malagasy people and a conviction that every individual carries a unique, God-given purpose, they established this humanitarian platform not just as a charity, but as a family.
The spark that ignited their mission began with a single, intentional action that opened the door to a lifetime of impact. They encountered a determined young man who was walking several hours every day just to rent time at a cyber café to complete his schoolwork. Recognizing his potential, they provided him with a laptop—a simple tool that allowed him to finish his education and launch a successful enterprise. Today, that young man’s business is flourishing, providing employment for local youth and serving as a beacon of faith-led leadership. Seeing this transformation firsthand, Lance and Sandratra realized a powerful truth: if they could change the trajectory of one person's life, they could drive sustainable development in Madagascar one family, and one community at a time.
Who We Are Today
Echoes is now a vibrant non-profit organization devoted to bringing positive change through an enthusiastic, talented, and genuinely invested team. We aim to inspire generations to become catalysts for progress, working alongside local and international partners—including religious institutions, educational facilities, and care centers—to promote sustainable growth through a holistic approach.
Whether through our administrative headquarters in Antananarivo, our humanitarian logistics hub in Mahanoro, or our deep-village community centers, our work remains a reflection of the vision God placed in Lance and Sandratra’s hearts: to see the nation of Madagascar transformed by the power of hope and the promise of eternal values.
Where we work
Restoring Communities Through Holistic Empowerment
We envisioned an NGO that wouldn't just provide temporary relief, but would walk alongside villages to unlock their inherent potential. What began as a small initiative has grown into a multi-branch organization, yet the core motivation remains personal. We believe that community-led transformation is inseparable from spiritual restoration. By focusing on "the one" and investing in the long-term well-being of the heart, mind, and spirit, we have built a legacy centered on the Great Commission and holistic discipleship.
Our branches
Our Zones of Intervention
To effectively serve the diverse needs across our zones of intervention, we operate through three strategic branches that allow us to manage complex humanitarian and projects logistics while maintaining a deep presence in remote areas
- Antananarivo (Headquarters): Our central office in the capital serves as the administrative heart of the organization. This is where we conduct team training, host key strategic meetings, and manage the essential paperwork and coordination required for international partnerships.
- Mahanoro (Coastal Hub): Located on the East Coast, this branch acts as a vital bridge between the capital and the isolated regions we serve. It is the center of our coordination activities, ensuring that supplies and personnel move efficiently to where they are needed most.
- The Village Community Center (Primary Field Site): This facility accommodates our missionaries and volunteers year-round, serving as a hub for vocational training, agricultural workshops, and community-led meetings.
Our long-term vision:
A Legacy of Eternal Value
Our vision is to empower individuals to discover their God-given talents and equip them to become agents of change within their own communities. We believe true success is rooted in Kingdom Principles and focused on eternal values. Guided by 2 Corinthians 4:18, we fix our eyes on the unseen and eternal, striving to help the Malagasy people break the cycle of poverty and reclaim their identity. Our ultimate goal is to inspire a generation of catalysts who will continue this work of progress and restoration long after we are gone .
To realize this vision, we have implemented diverse initiatives—ranging from clean water projects and community-led programs and circular agriculture programs. Looking forward, we are expanding our footprint to include more agribusiness platforms for women, youth vocational training and ecological restoration projects that turn agricultural waste into sustainable fuel.
No single organization can transform a nation alone. We actively partner with local village leadership and international groups, including NGOs, churches, and educational institutions, to leverage shared expertise and resources. By working together, we ensure that our projects are culturally relevant, technically sound, and spiritually grounded.
Our ultimate goal is to inspire a generation of catalysts who will continue this work of progress long after we are gone. We invite you to join us on this journey. Whether you contribute as a strategic partner, a financial stakeholder, or a volunteer in the field, your involvement is a vital piece of the Great Commission in Madagascar.

The Echoes Family: Our Team & Volunteers
We are blessed to have a team that is more than just staff; we are a family. Our core management team and missionaries have been with us for more than 10 years, demonstrating a level of dedication and commitment that is truly rare. They are always willing to "go the distance"—quite literally through the rugged Malagasy interior—to achieve the vision of restoration given to us. This decade of service has seen us growing together in faith and in brotherhood, creating a foundation of trust that allows our missions to flourish in even the most challenging environments.
Our volunteers are equally incredible. They do not just assist with the progress of the work; they enter a season of profound personal growth and learning in the field of missions. Most of our volunteers are recent college graduates or young people transitioning from student life to the workforce. By serving with Echoes, they gain invaluable real-world experience while discovering how their professional skills can serve a higher purpose.
A Foundation Built on Partnership and Gratitude
We are profoundly aware that this mission is only possible because of the combined efforts of many. We extend our deepest gratitude to our dedicated team, who believed in the vision God placed in our hearts and committed themselves to being part of His work in Madagascar.
We are equally thankful for our partners and friends in North America whose steadfast support over the years has been a cornerstone of our growth. To every individual who continues to support us financially: your generosity is the fuel that has brought us this far. Without you, we could not reach these milestones, and it is because of your faith in our mission that we can now aim for even greater impact in the years to come.
